LA UNION, Philippines — Filipino powerlifter Jomara S. Chan, 46, delivered a record-setting performance at the East Asia & Southeast Asia Sub-Regional Combined Powerlifting & Bench Press Championships 2026 in Hainan, China, held March 26–30.

Competing in the Masters 1 (M1) division, under-69-kilogram weight class, Chan weighed 64.20 kilograms and recorded a 132.5-kg squat, 50-kg bench press, and 140-kg deadlift, for a 322.5-kg total.

Chan earned gold in the squat and deadlift, bronze in the bench press, and gold for her overall total.

Her performance also set two new Philippine National Records in the M1 under-69kg category—squat at 132.5 kg and total at 322.5 kg. She also continues to hold the Philippine National Record for the M1 under-69kg deadlift.

Chan trains at Barbells & Brew Elyu Strength Lab, the first powerlifting gym in La Union, under coach Jose Virgil “Otet Teto” Perez, highlighting another strong international showing from the country’s powerlifting community.
