(Update) LA UNION – Nagpapasalamat si dating La Union 2nd District Representative Thomas “Butch” Dumpit Jr. matapos ibasura ng Sandiganbayan’s First Division ang graft charges laban sa kanya at sa dalawa pa dahil sa alegasyon ng umano’y maling paggamit ng P14.55-million Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) o pork barrel.
Sa maikling mensahe na ipinadala ni Dumpit sa Bombo Radyo bilang reaksyon sa pagkakabasura naturang kaso, sinabi nito na ang katotohanan ang siyang laging nagpapalaya at hindi magagapi ang gumagawa kabutihan sa pamamagitan ng kasinungalingan at black propaganda.
“The truth will always set u free. You cant bring down a good guy thru lies and black propaganda. God is great!’, ani ni Dumpit.
Inilabas ng nabanggit na hukuman ang desisyon noong November 8, 2019 kung saan ay pinapawalang sala si Dumpit kasama sina Romulo Relevo at Rhodora Mendoza ng National Agribusiness Corporation (Nabcor).
Sila ay unang sinampahan ng kasong two counts of graft, one count of malversation, at one count of malversation through falsification.
Base sa desisyon ng hukuman, nabigo ang prosekusyon na patunayan ang mga alegasyon sa tatlo sa pamamagitan ng mga inilahad ng ebendisya.
“Accused Dumpit did not perform an act which manifested that he unilaterally chose KMBFI [or Kasangga sa Magandang Bukas Foundation, Inc.] as the implementing NGO [or non-government organization] of the livelihood project. He was not a party to or a signatory of the two MOAs [or memorandums of agreement] between NABCOR and KMBFI”, base sa pasya ng Sandiganbayan.
“No evidence was likewise presented showing that he had a palpably and patently fraudulent and dishonest purpose showing evident bad faith. Further, he did not act with gross inexcusable negligence in the release of the fund to KMBFI or the implementation of the project,”, ayon pa sa nasabing hukuman.
